I had the honor of joining Ken Barringer on the Grief in Brief podcast to talk about something deeply personal and incredibly important: how widowhood and financial planning intersect in real life.
In 2013, I was a stay-at-home mom of three when I was suddenly widowed. With no road map for grief—or the financial uncertainty that followed—I sought help and found a financial planner who truly understood what I was going through. That experience changed my life. It inspired me to return to school, become a financial planner myself, and eventually open my firm, Sephton Financial, where I now specialize in supporting widows and newly single parents.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Navigating grief and financial chaos at the same time
- Why the “human side” of financial planning matters
- What led me to write A Guide to Widowhood and A Guide to Blended Families
- How my journey continues to evolve as I help others find clarity and confidence in theirs
